TAMPA — A woman died Thursday afternoon after she suffered head injuries and was left in the middle of a residential west Tampa road, police said. TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa police swarmed the 2100 block of Flora Street after receiving a 911 call that a woman was injured in the road. At first, first responders thought she’d been hit by a car. But, when they arrived on scene they found head injuries that weren’t accidental. “You’d never expect to see a body at 330 in the afternoon just laying in the middle of the street,” Dillon Gonzalez said. Gonzalez lives four houses down from where the woman’s body was dropped off. He said investigators ca..>> view originalSee how this Tampa business is cleaning up with a military talent pool
TAMPA — When Marissa Davis' husband was transferred from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana to MacDill in Tampa in February 2015, she reached out on a military support Facebook page for advice on local jobs. Julie McAdoo, a veteran who had always been active on the sites, offered some suggestions. Then she and her husband, Kevin, who run an Office Pride commercial cleaning franchise in Tampa, hired Davis themselves. TAMPA — Between construction, a Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game and typical rush-hour traffic, it was difficult to get to the Downtowner launch party near Channelside Thursday night. The 12 electric vehicles took to Tampa's streets offering free rides to anywhere within the downtown district, which spans from the ..>> view originalCarlton: Tampa does Democrats, but how about architects?
Hard to say what's most surprising about Mickey Jacob's name being added to the list of rumored contenders to replace Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn when he term-limits out in three years. (A departure that, by the way, may require a SWAT team, given Buckhorn's fondness for the job.) So is it most surprising that: 1. Jacob is very much not-from-here — an immigrant, as he likes to say, Canada-born and naturalized 16 years ago? 2. He is not a seasoned politician who held a previous office like City Coun..>> view originalMatt Duchene leads Colorado Avalanche past Tampa Bay Lightning ...
TAMPA, Fla. — Earlier than usual, Matt Duchene is heating up offensively. The Avalanche forward didn’t get his second goal last season until his 12th game. He went on to produce a team-high 30 goals, tops in his career. Duchene was in another rut this month, pointless in his first three games of the new season. But that rut leveled out Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, another Eastern Conference power Colorado faced during its treacherous four-game trip.
